Riverside Hostel is an eco-friendly space in the middle of New Zealand's oldest intentional community and offers affordable accommodation throughout the year for travellers of all ages.

 

Close to Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks, the hostel is a quiet, alcohol and smoke-free*, backpackers in Riverside's village-like setting with Tasman's Great Taste Cycle Trail and many beautiful beaches, valleys and rivers nearby. If you are after a little wellness break, there is even the possibility to participate in yoga, tai-chi and other holistic classes which are offered daily in the neighbouring Cultural Centre. 

 

You can choose between fully-furnished, heated Single Bedrooms ($220/week) or Twin Bedrooms (from $320/week for 2 people). All have access to free wifi, a shared kitchen, a common lounge area and shared bathroom facilities with a washing machine. A pleasant outside kitchen, seating and lawn area make the space a cosy spot to read a book or engage with other hostel guests. 

 

Riverside Hostel is ideal for travellers looking for an eco-friendly, tranquil Hostel in a unique setting. You are also welcome to stay here if you want to experience community life as a volunteer or learn more about Riverside's rich history.

Enjoy a cup of coffee or a lovely meal in the enchanting ambience of the iconic Riverside Cafe, set in an old homestead from which to view the mountain ranges and soak in the lush surroundings. At the Riverside Cafe, you will also find several copper installations and a huge succulent collection all designed and landscaped by local artist Che Vincent. At times, Che showcases sculptures, wall panels and light installations in his studio and art gallery which is just a short wander down the path from the Cafe. If you are lucky you may find the gallery open and can view some of his pieces.

Weekly wellness classes, as  well as one-off workshops, concerts and public talks are happening at the Riverside Centre all throughout the year and you are welcome to join in or book the venue for your own functions.

Finish your day with some relaxing short walks around the countryside. Cruise around the extensive Community grounds and explore the little bush walk or wander to the seacoast outlook. Simply ask your Hostel Managment for directions...
