Physical Theatre is the means by which story, emotion and character is conveyed on stage through the body.
Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm, beginning February 4th
Riverside Community Centre
In these 2 hour long classes we'll explore fundamentals of using the body as a responsive, expressive tool on (or off) stage.
Using very "accessible" games and exercises, we will create “physical vocabulary” for the stage, with a focus on the ensemble, presence and readiness.
The methods of The Viewpoints, Butoh Dance Theatre and The Suzuki Method of Actor Training will be brought into "play," as well as forays into devising, dance, and other body awareness exercises.
No prior knowledge of these forms are necessary.
Students are asked to commit to the term, to enable a scaffolding of skills and group functioning.
Great opportunity for professional development for Drama and Dance teachers, for bringing physical awareness into your acting, or just for the pure thrill of discovering a new language of expression!
All levels of theatre experience welcome...(0-lots)
Cost: term fee--$120 (8 weeks)
