The production of clothing is often more resource intensive than we realise, so it’s important that we maximise the use we get out garments. This workshop aims to inspire participants to make and integrate upcycled clothing into their own wardrobes, and will demonstrate a range of techniques for doing this. No advanced sewing skills are necessary. If you have existing examples of upcycled clothing you are welcome to bring these to share with the group.
About the facilitator: Kellie McNeill is a Riwaka based ‘maker’ who works mainly in the field of fibrearts and textiles. She utilises upcycled materials in the creation of art yarns, loomed textiles and Harakeke weaving, and creates much of her own wardrobe from upcycled garments. She was previously a lecturer at the University of Auckland, where she specialised in environmental
