Kellie McNeill is a Riwaka based ‘Maker’ who works mainly in the field of fibre arts and textiles. She utilises upcycled materials in the creation of art yarns, loomed textiles and Harakeke weaving. She was previously a lecturer at the University of Auckland, where she specialized in Environmental Sociology.
In this workshop you will learn how to make a large basket from NZ flax and learn about some of the traditions and tikanga surrounding the cultivation, harvest and use of harakeke.
