Kath Bee has been creating songs for kids for around 17 years. She has a knack for crafting intelligent, thoughtful songs that really resonate with children. Her clever lyrics grab children’s attention and her melodies stick in your head, sometimes forever! Kath is commissioned to write songs for schools and preschools and was also commissioned to write songs for the TVNZ show “Poppetstars”. Kath has experience in co-writing and also writes more 'adult' songs. She is now branching into the pop genre, inviting young people to sing her songs.
During this songwriting workshop, Kath will discuss song structure and focus on how to get started, lyric-writing, and making a song stand out from the rest. Each child will write at least one verse and a chorus during the workshop and perform it to the group. Guitars, keyboards, ukuleles are welcome, but not necessary. Kath can accompany children on guitar, if need be, but the song can also be a cappella. Kath will also give performance tips and answer questions about choosing music as a career.
