I (Anna) am a new yoga teacher who wants to share my love of yoga and its benefits with whoever is eager to learn. Yoga is not just about the asanas/postures, it is a process that involves confronting your limits and moving through them. They can be mental, emotional and physical limits.
The practice of yoga involves 8 limbs, like limbs of a tree, and the asanas are just ⅛ of yoga. Other practices include, Pranayama/breathwork , Dhyana/meditation, and dharana/concentration.
In your practice with me, we will be focusing on finding a comfortable edge in each asana/posture where you feel you are pushing or stretching just enough to not be uncomfortable. This in turn will develop both your mental and physical strength. In my asana practice the focus is on gaining mental and physical strength while maintaining correct alignment and most importantly looking after our bodies and any injuries we may have.
Yoga is not about pushing yourself to complete a posture especially if it is uncomfortable, it is about how you feel. I encourage the use of props such as blankets, straps and blocks so that you can feel as comfortable as possible while still moving through your practice.
