This is a six-week workshop series that introduces the core concepts of Aware Parenting for parents interested in learning new tools to respond to challenging behaviours and connect with their tamariki.
Aware Parenting is an attachment-based and trauma-informed approach to parenting which does not use either punishments or rewards. It questions most traditional assumptions about raising children and proposes a new approach that can significantly improve relationships within a family and prevent behaviour problems. Aware Parenting was created by Swiss-American Developmental Psychologist Aletha Solter, Ph.D (for more information, see: https://www.awareparenting.com/).
The workshops will also provide a safe and empathetic space for parents to explore their childhood experiences (often referred to as imprints or potential triggers) through learning, practising and receiving embodied and reflective listening.
The workshop series topics will include: overview of the core components of Aware Parenting; role of tears and tantrums; listening to feelings and “loving limits”; attachment play; control patterns; exploration of parents’ imprints and more.
The workshops will be facilitated by Pippa Allen, Aware Parenting Instructor-in-training.
