Nikkie Karki is an actor, performer and teacher based in Nelson. She is bringing her skills and dynamism to teach for Inside Out Circus and Physical Theatre at the Riverside Community Centre. She has worked for the last 20 years as a drama teacher. She owned and operated the Cre8 Speech and Drama school in Queenstown for five and half years and taught for Nelson's Body in Space Theatre company for 2 years. She is a preschool and primary school trained teacher and has got a degree in theatre and performing arts from Plymouth University in the U.K. Nikkie is passionate about both drama and children, and brings that passion to her teaching. She excels at helping kids develop creative performance skills, whilst building listening, self confidence and group working skills. In this first term of classes, the aim is to build relationships within the group and spark creativity to create the kids' own piece of short theatre, using the group's ideas, improvisation and dynamics.
