About the Event
It's the school holidays! Time to get creative, pick up some new skills and do something fun and a little bit different.
In this hands-on crafty workshop, Faline offers an opportunity for kids 9 years and older to put an old plastic bottle (certainly too many of those around!) to good use and impress the local bird population.
Bird feeders offer a fun and entertaining way to observe birds up close and connect with nature. They also supplement the natural food sources available for birds in your backyard or garden. Different species of birds prefer varying types of feeder foods – in this session, participants will make a seed feeder for some of the common garden birds around. It is amazing how close birds will come once used to their feeding station- and hours of bird watching will ensue. The desire to help wildlife has positive long-term effects on the environment, and this is a fun project to introduce kids to animal conservation.
In this workshop, we will work with sharp knives and scissors, so some basic motoric skills are required. Participants must bring their own clean and dry plastic bottle – easily picked up from the recycle depot if none are laying around at home. We provide all other materials.
Limited to 8 participants. Sponsorships available (just ask). Bookings essential!
