About the Event

Come and spend a couple of hours bonding with one of your favourite young people during the school holidays, exploring a new tactile craft that you may not have had the opportunity to experience.

Spring is the perfect time to think about seedlings and plants. And what are you going to put them in? Home-made clay plant pots are beautiful and make a great eco-friendly addition to your house – or a lovely gift for a friend.

Children especially love the physical-sensual-mental experience of squeezing, pinching and shaping a piece of wet clay into something funny, interesting or beautiful. It is such a gentle process that is grounding and calming as well as stimulating and inspiring.

Tanja will help participants in this beginner-level pottery workshop to gain a feel for the clay, create a simple plant pot and personalise it. Each piece is unique, and the time spent making it as a team with your own hands will leave you with treasured memories.

This session is creative, 100% hands-on, and potentially a bit messy – please dress (yourself and your children) accordingly :) Clay stains may not wash out of some fabrics.

Please note that if you would like your work fired, you will not be able to take it home on the day, and it may take up to a month before you can pick up your finished piece.

Limited to 10 adult-child pairs. Bookings essential. Bookings close Thursday, 5th October at 2pm.

This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for workshop questions or to ask about sponsorship options.
