With Damara Sylvester from InsideOutCircus
Wednesday, 18th January, 12pm- 2pm
At Riverside Centre main Hall
Physical Theatre is the means by which story, emotion, relationships and character are conveyed on stage through the body. In this 2 hour workshop, we'll explore some of the fundamentals of using the body as a responsive, expressive tool.
No previous theatre experience is necessary. We'll be using very accessible games and exercises to create "physical vocabulary", with a focus on the ensemble, presence and readiness.
The methods of The Viewpoints, Butoh Dance Theatre, and the Suzuki Method of Actor Training will be brought in to play. A great opportunity for bringing physical awareness into your acting, or just for the pure thrill of discovering a new language of expression!
Damara Sylvester has studied, taught and performed Physical Theatre, dance and circus internationally for the past 15+ years. Her motto is "Learn to play, and play to learn," and her mission is to assist transformation and empowerment through the expressive arts.
She runs her own company, Inside Out Circus And Physical Theatre in Lower Moutere, training circus and theatre artists.
