'Live Simply in the forest - shelter, fire, food, fun.

Spending regular time in nature has many benefits, improves mental health and inspires positivity. These will be active programmes and children will be working together for example learning to build high quality natural shelters suitable for different climate zones. We may progress with fire lighting techniques and learn a variety of fire building types and then for example bake some bread. Other activities may include learning to confidently carve camp craft items using a knife while relaxing in the forest. Learning how to identify plants and some of their uses and a general deeper knowledge of nature and how to be comfortable in it are often outcomes of these activities.

The Wilderness Canoe Trust is a locally based Charity focused on connecting people to the natural environment. We use funding to offer affordable and design fun accessible adventures. The Trust has a robust safety management plan and child protection policy and are Adventure Mark safety audit certified. We have highly experienced and capable instructors. James Alker established the Wilderness Canoe Trust in 2013. He has worked in the outdoors for over 20 years and is a qualified Secondary School Teacher who overseas the safe running of the Trust.

Please see www.canoejourneys.co.nz for more about what we do and if you would like to get in touch, we will design a tailor made experience for an organisation / group / school you are involved with.'
