Mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress, help regulate emotions and to calm anxieties by connecting in with what is present in each moment.
Sometimes, however, it can be a struggle to focus on the present moment when strong emotions take hold of our bodies. In this workshop you’ll learn ways to make it easier to be present by connecting with your body and heart through easy creative explorations. These are designed to calm the busy mind so that connecting with the present moment is gentle and joyful. You’ll learn tools to unlock your creative self, and how to release yourself from imposed boundaries of the fear stories from your past, as well as anxieties about your future.
Stepping into the ‘now’ using art-making as the bridge, allows you to feel freedom, peace, and relief.
Although this workshop is designed for all to enjoy, it is especially supportive for those with trauma in their history. It’s also ideal for those who have no creative practice but want to find their creative voice, or seasoned artists wanting to explore new way to be with their art-making.
Activities include drawing breath, creating body maps, mindful photography and making sculptures from found natural materials during a small walk in the bush. You are invited to bring along your own lunch, and wholesome snacks are provided. These may be enjoyed as eating meditation - another opportunity to find a simple, daily mindful practice.
