The Housing Futures Forum is an afternoon and evening event bringing together housing professionals, community leaders, funders, policymakers, and advocates to explore practical, values-driven solutions for Aotearoa’s housing challenges. Hosted as part of the Women Revolutionising Housing Hui, the Forum welcomes all genders to engage in meaningful dialogue and co-create strategies for a more equitable, sustainable, and community-focused housing system.
Participants will gain fresh insights from women leading housing innovation across Aotearoa—sharing successful models that combine affordability, environmental care, and social wellbeing. Interactive panels and working sessions will spark collaboration between grassroots changemakers, local government, and housing sector professionals to bridge the gap between vision and implementation.
The Forum culminates in a shared dinner and the special Playback Theatre performance “Building Belonging,” an evocative and participatory exploration of women’s housing stories—celebrating resilience, creativity, and hope.
Together, we’ll explore how to remove barriers to community-led development, enable collective and cohousing initiatives, and expand access to housing that supports connection, belonging, and wellbeing.
Endorsed by The Housing Innovation Society, this not-for-profit event aims to build cross-sector relationships and catalyse systemic change—laying the foundations for housing futures that serve both people and planet.
