Laughter yoga was invented by Indian doctor Madan Kataria in 1995 after his medical research established a wide-range of benefits from the act of simply laughing, even if the emotion was put into effect for no reason. The practise combines 30 minutes of child-like exercises with sections of deep breathing and 15 minutes of light meditation to bring attendees back to earth. The intention is that the group's laughter will soon be outrageously contagious and become real.
Some fun facts:
- 10 min laughter exercises equals 1 hr running!
- laughter boosts energy evels
- it boost self-confidence levels
-increases oxygen levels in the body
- which increses focus
-releases endorphins and dopamin into the bloodstream
-practise regularly it makes you feel better, look younger!
"In Laughter Yoga, we don’t laugh because we are happy; we are happy because we laugh.” – Dr Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga
