After running a couple of very popular clay workshops in spring, we offer another opportunity to make a bowl, cup, or vase from scratch to children (8 years+).
Tanja and Faline will help participants in this low-skill level workshop to gain a feel for the clay, create a simple pot and personalise it. Each piece is unique; children usually leave with a satisfied smile and a sense of pride.
Children especially love the physical-sensual-mental experience of squeezing, pinching, and shaping a piece of wet clay into a beautiful and usable form. It is a delicate process that is grounding and calming as well as stimulating and inspiring – and not too long, either!
This session is creative, 100% hands-on and potentially a bit messy – please dress (yourself and your children) accordingly :) Clay stains may not wash out of some fabrics.
Please note that if you would like your children's work fired, you will not be able to take it home on the day, and there may be a small additional task. Unfired work does keep but cannot get wet and is relatively fragile.
Limited to 12 participants 8 years and older. Younger children are welcome but must be attended by their adult at all times. $10 per participating child
This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja at education@riverside.org.nz to discuss sponsorship options if you are struggling to meet the workshop fee or to enquire about more info.
