The Early Bobs have become world famous in the Top of the South as the best tribute band to play Bob Dylan classics since sliced cheese was invented.

Playing regularly at what is now the Former Ruby Bay Store Theatre, currently in the process of being revamped as an Italian Restaurant, the Early Bobs will now be promoted by Chrissie again but under the umbrella of Ruby Music Events.

The group consists of versatile and inimitable musician Clayton Taylor, who has been performing classic Dylan almost as long as the bard himself, give or take the few decades between them. He does Dylan proud, and with banter that keeps the audience happily entertained.

Clayton has performed in the Nelson region for many decades in many formations, from the Irish duo Cutty Wren, formed with his late partner Katy Holland, along with their group Van Dieman’s Band with David Bowater & Clive Garlic. These are only a few of the various other musical projects that he has been party to.

The Early Bobs are now a permanent three-piece group with Clayton (vocals and guitar),  joined by mandolin maestro Nathan Torvik, who has featured as a session musician in many local projects and has been a long-term friend and musical collaborator with Clayton.  They have now added the fabulous Craig Denham (vocals, piano and piano accordion) from Golden Bay to their permanent lineup to form this wonderful edition of the Early Bobs. Craig has many musical irons in many fires and can turn his hand musically to any genre.
