At Riverside Centre

A basic sewing course for children (from 5 years old) and their adults - that actually has a “no sew” option!

If you are looking for a productive and tactile activity to share with your child or other young person during the holidays, this one is for you. Making a bag from scratch is very satisfying, and achievable even for very young people – with some support and encouragement.

So bring your young person (5 years and up), some fabric scissors and spend a couple of hours creating in our hall. Walk home with a new tote-, shopping- or project bag to use at home or give to a friend.

Sylvia has lots of ideas and a wealth of experience with needle and thread – she will walk you through the process of turning fabric (either bring your own or choose from what we have gathered for you) into functional fashion :)

This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja at education@riverside.org.nz to discuss sponsorship options if you are struggling to meet the workshop fee or to enquire about more info.
