You asked for it, and here it is: after leading a workshop for kids and families, we’re offering adults a calm, welcoming space to explore basic bookbinding. Give it a try—it's creative, enjoyable, and deeply rewarding. Who wouldn’t be proud to say they crafted their own little book?

Make a small notebook, a personal diary or a compact recipe book. Maybe you’d like to bind your own sketches or sheet music?

There are many fun, accessible book-making techniques—some with needle and thread, others without. You’ll try simple books using saddle stitch and Japanese stab binding, plus other methods, with a mix of colourful and plain papers. All materials are supplied, and the session is completely hands-on and tidy. If you have something special to bind, or want to use unique paper, photos, or covers, feel free to bring them.

This workshop will take place in the Komitimiti Café.

Limited to 12 participants, 16 years and up. Bookings are essential and close Wednesday, 17th June at 2pm. Book Now

This workshop series is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for workshop questions or to ask about sponsorship options.
