This three-week course, inspired by foundational hand-building classes, is perfect for both beginners and those who've attended introductory clay pottery workshops.
Experienced participants can expand their skills with Tanja, who will tailor guidance based on your ideas. Newcomers will explore the basics of clay art in this beginner-friendly block course, focusing on three techniques: pinching, coiling, and slapping.
Each week emphasises a different method, providing ample practice time and introducing various local clays. By course end, you'll have basic hand-building skills to create more pieces independently and possibly discover a new passion. Tanja will handle firing and glazing your creations, though some drying time is needed. The course fee covers all sessions, firing, and glazing.
Previous attendees appreciated the serene, creative space and the therapeutic joy of working with clay. This course is fully hands-on and potentially messy, so dress appropriately, as clay stains may persist.
No prior experience is necessary.
Limited to 10 participants, adults or children who are interested and capable to work by themselves. $50 total for all sessions per person. Bookings are essential and close Wednesday, 11th June at 2pm. Book Now
The workshop will take place in our Clay Play Space – access off Community Road.
This workshop series is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for workshop questions or to ask about sponsorship options.
