Children and adults alike have a natural affinity for clay, and it's easy to see why. Working with this versatile material involves a sensory-rich, hands-on experience of squeezing, pinching, rolling, and shaping the very earth beneath our feet.
Our upcoming workshop is an ideal chance for you and a cherished young person to spend a few hours together, delving into a tactile craft that might be new to you both. Under the guidance of Tanja, participants of this beginner-friendly workshop will become comfortable with clay, and learn how to make your own pottery plate, personalising them using natural materials, stencils, and boundless imagination.
The unique pieces you create will not only serve as a testament to your creativity but also as cherished memories of this shared experience.
We will bisque-fire the plates for attendees, with an optional glazing service available for an additional $3 per plate. This process will take a few weeks. Alternatively, participants may take home their unfired creations, which remain delicate and should not get wet. If you choose this option, please bring a small wooden board or plate to transport your work home safely.
Limited to 8 pairs of one adult and one child each. Bookings are essential and close Thursday, 8th August at 2pm. Book Now
This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for workshop questions or to ask about sponsorship options.
