Revive your wardrobe with Riverside Education's Visible Mending Workshop with Jacqui Chan and Franka Haeussner.
Transform your worn-out woollens and denims into fashionable statements by upcycling clothes with the art of visible mending! Join us for a three-hour community workshop hosted by talented textile enthusiasts Jacqui Chan and Franka Haeussner, who have a long history of experience in sewing and garment repair. Give your favorite clothes a second life and join the eco-friendly movement of visible mending.
During this hands-on workshop, Jacqui and Franka will offer step-by-step instruction in visible mending techniques, accompanied by practical demonstrations. You'll learn how to creatively repair rips, holes, and frayed edges with stylish stitching patterns, inspired by the thousands of examples available online.
The event will also feature a short film screening that delves into people's relationships with their clothing. As a participant, you'll be part of a community that celebrates mending as a way to bring new life to old clothes - let's mend the world, not trash it!
Please bring any extra thread and needles you may have on hand. Thread, fabric, needles, tea, and biscuits will be provided during the workshop. Don't forget to bring your own mug for a cozy tea time!
Join Jacqui and Franka for this engaging and sustainable journey to revitalise your wardrobe one stitch at a time! This session is completely hands on – there will be lots of practical examples for you to follow and you will walk home with some mended garments also.
Limited to 20 participants. Sponsorships available (just ask). Bookings essential: Book Now
