Join Riverside Education’s Adult & Child workshop this month for a creative experience using natural materials. Spend quality time with a special young person and learn to craft sustainable fences, play structures, or whimsical sculptures with willow whips from our Riverside gardens.
In this beginner's willow weaving workshop, Sylvia and Verena will guide you through choosing the right willow varieties and teach two techniques for making durable and magical garden structures.
Working with willow is not only fun and creative but also promotes sustainability and 'slow living'—a mindful approach that embraces past wisdom and a stronger connection with nature.
Willow has been a cherished resource through history, used in basketry, furniture, and construction, and even traditional medicine for its salicin content. Its symbolism of resilience and flexibility underscores its importance. By joining this workshop, you’ll connect with these traditions, gaining appreciation and environmental awareness - all while having a fun bonding experience with your loved young person.
Participants will leave equipped to plant their own living fences, igloos, tipis, or sculptures, adding a touch of natural beauty to their surroundings.
Limited to 6 adult-child pairs. Payment of $35 is per pair. Bookings are essential. Bookings close Friday, 5th July at 2pm. Book Now
