Riverside Education's school-holiday workshop invites kids aged 9 years+ to create a DIY birdfeeder using an old plastic bottle, transforming waste into a sustainable craft project. Engaging in this hands-on activity, children will learn how they can easily make a positive impact on the environment.
Building a birdfeeder helps young conservationists connect with nature and understand the importance of supporting local bird populations. Participants will create seed feeders to attract common garden birds. This creative craft workshop for kids encourages hours of bird-watching and fosters a love for wildlife, promoting long-term environmental benefits.
This conservation-oriented workshop also supports children’s development by requiring basic motoric skills for using sharp tools such as knives and scissors. Participants must bring their own clean, dry plastic bottle for the project, with other materials provided.
Join the sustainable creative crafts movement, and let kids discover the fun of DIY birdfeeding while becoming responsible conservationists.
This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for any workshop questions or to discuss sponsorship options.
