Here's an exciting chance for some quality time with a youngster in your life, all while exploring edible plants around you.
Kids' deep-rooted connection with nature comes alive as they learn to distinguish edible flora from non-edibles, fostering environmental stewardship and independence. This self-sufficiency-focused workshop is fun-filled and delicious, too!
Meet Tanja at the Centre, go for a gentle Riverside walk, and gather edible plants, including those often dismissed as bothersome weeds. You will make wild pesto from this bounty, and once done, light a bonfire for a unique culinary experience: pesto spread with fire-baked dough (aka damper).
We supply regular damper dough, but bring your own if gluten-free. Also, remember to pack a basket, sunhat, water bottle, and comfy shoes.
This workshop is weather-dependent.
Limited to 10 adult-child pairs. Bookings are essential and close Friday, 3rd November at 2pm. Book Now
This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for workshop questions or to ask about sponsorship options.
