Interested in learning the art of grafting fruit trees?
Grafting, an ancient technique dating back to 2000 BCE in China, was practiced in ancient Greece and Rome. It evolved globally, enhancing agriculture by encouraging desirable plant traits. This technique, now a blend of ancient and modern methodologies, remains essential for cultivating improved plant varieties and productive orchards. And you can learn it too...
This concise Tree Grafting Workshop course will teach you how to select scion and rootstock, perform cuts and joins, and care for grafted trees. You'll explore different grafting methods, understand their suitable conditions, and learn techniques applicable to various species. Grafting is the most reliable way to cultivate desired traits in your favorite fruits, providing a unique satisfaction from growing your own plants.
Though Che is renowned for his bonsai expertise, his horticultural skills extend to larger trees as well. His focus includes grafting, pruning, shaping, and understanding tree responses. This practical, hands-on guide covers the fundamentals of grafting, with apples as the primary example, though the techniques are adaptable to other species.
For this two-hour session in one of our home orchards, dress according to weather conditions. We recommend wearing sturdy footwear or gumboots. Please bring your secateurs and grafting knife if you have one.
Please note that this workshop is weather-dependent and will be cancelled (or possibly postponed) if wet.
Limited to 10 participants. Â Bookings close Thursday, 22nd August at 2pm. Book Now
